in winter..

.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.

in autumn..

.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.

in summer..

.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.

in spring..

.. it's the hope for a brighter day.

Sam Shinazzi
Then I Held My Breath

AltCountry (Belgium) - July 2009

"I belong in your heart, I should be on your stereo, play me nice and loud" was Aussie Sam Shinazzi from "I Don't Belong Here" from his second CD "Stories You Wouldn't Believe" and so it is just.

The man is a true natural talent, where the art of writing and placing of colored melancholy (pop) songs are concerned. It is something he again proves with buddy Adam Wes Gregorace who produced his third album "Then I Held My Breath". From the opening track, the warm-blooded emo rocker "Today We Lost A Great One", he again opens eyes. And that he then continues with another eleven songs; from the autumn "Forge My Signature" and the unbridled love drown "Blue Belle" to a very nice suspended acoustic guitar line "Please Do not Let Me Forget" and his ode to summer and the ladies on "Girls". This album certainly satisfies. It is therefore high time that this talent from Sydney gets recognition as he is harvesting!
