in winter..
.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.in autumn..
.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.in summer..
.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.in spring..
.. it's the hope for a brighter day.
Sam Shinazzi
Then I Held My Breath

(From Belgium to English)
An Australian rocker whose influences include LemonHeads, Bruce Springsteen and Elliott Smith. This is his fourth CD, and in terms of musical acts he has played with, there is an impressive list ... what about Bonnie Prince Billy, Evan dando, Josh Rouse, Jose Gonzales and Hayden to name a few? His previous work includes a mini-album from 2001 "Long Drive Home", in 2003 the first full album "Less Than Perfect Day" and in 2005 "Stories You Would Not Believe" .
This month the third full album "Then I Held My Breath" hits the European market. On this album he calls his band Team Shinazzi, and also mentions a few invited guest musicians including Jason Walker on pedal steel, drummer Nicholai Danko, pianist Skye Knight, Wally Walton on keyboards and vocal support from Elizabeth Payne on 5 songs. His good friend Adam Wes Gregorace sat in the producer chair as he had also previously for "Stories You Would not Believe".
With the twelve songs on this album Sam Shinazzi should now finally be able to break through because it is clear that this artist has a permanent place in the pop and rock world and is ready to conquer. He spends a lot of attention to the quality of the stories he tells in his songs. Most are relatively simple but to-the-point texts on everyday topics, with catchy melodies that are easy on the hearing, and therefore have a very high level of recognition on first listen.
His magnificent voice can be heard on the rest of this album; the purity, the emotions and the broad range of his voice has Sam Shinazzi as unique. In songs about loneliness and lost love his singing style is very disarming and emotionally honest. The first song on this album is the first single which was launched last autumn: "Today We Lost A Great One". The vulnerability of the sad song "Forge My Signature" is moving and goes to the heart of the listener. Other top songs of his include "Graduation Girl", the ballads "Walking" and "Thinking", the emotional lovesongs "Blue Belle" and "My Very Own Mary-Ellen and a beautiful song about friendship "Please Do not Let Me Forget".
The Striking tracklist includes the song "Girls" with an alphabetical list of some 30 names of sweethearts from the past. The heart of this album "Something Great Must Come From This" is also a more than worthy conclusion to the whole plate. That 'Something Great...' would be the final breakthrough for Sam Shinazzi.
