in winter..
.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.in autumn..
.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.in summer..
.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.in spring..
.. it's the hope for a brighter day.
Sam Shinazzi
Then I Held My Breath
Il Popolo del Blues (Italy)
Australian songwriting full of rock and good melodies
Australian origins, look to the USA prairies and European rigor. Thus the singer/guitarist Sam Shinazzi arrive to his third Then the Held My Breath, not abandoning his origins of acoustic songwriter but also, surrounding himself with an electric formation. There is a melancholy atmosphere, dark in some moments, but Shinazzi goes also in search for melody in order to express very elaborate texts like in the rarified and dreamlike 'My Very Own Mary-Ellen' and in the Dylan like 'This Could Be Something'. The point of force is 'Please Don't Let Me Forget', constructed on country-rock and 'Thinking' with piano accompanyment in beautiful evidence. But also the more rocking 'Today We Lost A Great One' and 'Forge My Signature have excellent cue. An album sure interesting and to listen to with attention.
