Stories You Wouldn't Believe
Songbook magazine (issue #8) - summer 2006
We return to Sydney, Australia for 'Stories You Wouldn't Believe' (Laughing Outlaw Records) by singer-songwriter Sam Shinazzi. It follows on from his 2001 debut 'Long Drive Home' and 2003's 'Less Than Perfect Day', both released under the guise of 'The C-Minus Project'. Shinazzi also co-wrote material for Jenny Queen's 'Girl's Who Cry Need Cake' debut. A busy boy. Shinazzi has also been working on Jenny's next recording too. But what you all want to know, of course, is ... is there a Sydney sound? Not sure yet.
What is more certain is that 'Stories You Wouldn't Believe' is a slightly sombre, downbeat collection of songs reflecting a difficult period in the writer's life from which he seems to have eventually emerged intact and with the creative batteries suitably recharged.
