in winter..
.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.in autumn..
.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.in summer..
.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.in spring..
.. it's the hope for a brighter day.

Less Than Perfect Day
JB-HI FI Magazine August 2003
Talk about apt nicknames, Sam Shinazzi, also known as Turtle, has just released his debut album after some years of playing on the live scene. This unassuming minstrel has even supported the likes of Evan Dando, Joe Pernice and Josh Rouse with no product other than demos which gives you some idea of the strength of the songs. Shinazzi is as urgent as a coma, rolling along so slowly you can't help but slow down and just enjoy.
There's a decidly melancholy feel running through Less Than Perfect Day; songs about lost love, no love, and love that's just not working out so well - and yet by the end of the album theres a certain rise in the listener's spirit. Perhaps its the catharsis of it all, maybe its just the knack Shinazzi has of capturing just want goes on in your own head. The standout track is the slightly more positive Goofy, with a chorus that is guaranteed to lodge in your mind for weeks. Its good to see the fruits of a very long labour have ripened nicely
