in winter..
.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.in autumn..
.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.in summer..
.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.in spring..
.. it's the hope for a brighter day.

Less Than Perfect Day
The Brag (Sydney) October 2003
Those familiar with Sam Shinazzi's personal acoustic pop songwriting
will no doubt have warmed to his remarkable instinct for musical intimacy.
Maybe it's a kind of superpower, knowing just how far to go to make
you want to cry without making you indignant about it. Often poignantly
simple, songs like You Better Stop Breaking My Heart and Cold Winters
Day can cut right to the bone. The delicate piano of the former particularly
hurts. After a while though, there's only so much deeply personal
songs about heartbreak you can
take, and this release is puntuated by the occasional 'happy' song,
like the poppier Goofy. I want to
describe this record as 'honest' but I'm afraid the association with
'depressing' will corrupt the term.
Less Than Perfect Day is less than perfect, but beautiful it its way,
kinda like a rainy afternoon.
