in winter..
.. it's like drinking black coffee trying to stay warm and keeping the cold out. the rain falls, the wind blows. some of you even get to see snow.in autumn..
.. it's a backyard in the suburbs, and hundreds leaves covering the green grass.in summer..
.. it's a night-time thing. out on the balcony (porch) with some beers and your friends.in spring..
.. it's the hope for a brighter day.

Sam Shinazzi(SS) 3CR INTERVIEW by Marcus Mulcahy(MM).
Recorded in Melbourne 18th January 2003.
MM: My guest all the way from Sydney is Sam from The C-Minus Project. Sam, welcome to 3CR buddy.
SS: Thankyou Marcus for having me.
MM: Good to have you in the studio finally. I spoke to you last year of course on the eve of your Melbourne show with Joe Pernice but more about that later. Let's get into a song.
**Sam plays 'Town Where You Were Born'**.
MM: Lovely way to start this evening. Sam, I'm very keen to find out something about yourself. Some listeners may not necessarily be aware of you. You've been to Melbourne many times now but you're not a household name. Can I get you to tell us about The C-Minus Project.
SS: A couple of years ago I was in a band called C-Minus and it was my first real shot at singing, playing guitar and writing songs. The band broke up and I'd wanted to do something a bit quieter. The name The C-Minus Project just stuck as a joke; like The Jimi Hendrix Experience or something like that. So I started to play solo about three years ago and that has developed into band shows although I still do play solo shows and also as a duo. I write the songs and I guess it's pretty much just me solo without putting my name on it.
MM: This is your first proper album; you've had some other releases but 'Less Than Perfect Day' is being called your debut. Tell us about the label behind it.
SS: Two small labels have gotten together and releasing the album as a joint release which is really flattering. Steady Cam have been around a while now run by Cameron Webb and Gifted is run by Chris Wu and I guess you could say they are just starting out as a label but he's a young entrepreneur...
MM: I mentioned you played with Joe Pernice last year and you have also supported Evan Dando and Josh Rouse...you don't muck around! You've already had some exceptional support spots in your career. Did you play as a band doing those shows?
SS: With Evan we did as three piece; with Joe it was as a duo in Sydney and solo in Melbourne; for Josh it was solo.
MM: What sort of music do you listen to at home?
SS: It's pretty varied but I guess the most common thing is singer songwriters.
MM: So those guys you supported...
SS: Yeah, very much so...Springsteen has been a huge influence on my life from when I was a little kid up until this very day. Bands from Boston in the early nineties were very influential. People like Buffalo Tom, Juliana Hatfield, Evan...J.Mascis.
MM: How about another track? Let the music do the talking. What are you going to play for us?
SS: This is a song called 'House Near Bridge' and it's the single of sorts.
**Sam plays 'House Near Bridge'**
MM: Very nice. Folks, if you've just tuned in you're listening to Sam from The C-Minus Project and he's playing tracks from his album 'Less Than Perfect Day'. Sam, you're not just here to play solo in Melbourne but you are here with a band as well.
SS: Yeah, I grew up playing drums and some friends of mine play largely instumental music...almost soundtrack music and they're called Seaworthy. And they needed a drummer so I helped them out. It was good timing because I could play a solo show here in Melbourne last night which is why I have a rusty voice!
MM: So you played last night down at The Good Morning Captain. How was that?
SS: It was really cool. I think I played the longest show of my life. It's this cafe in an old house and the back two rooms are for performing. It's very unique and I think it'll catch on.
MM: How about another song buddy. We're running out of time and I want to give the listeners more of this vibe.
SS: Okay, this is a song I don't think you'll hear for a long time but it's going to be on my next record. It's kinda new.
**Sam plays 'Until Sunrise'**
MM: Very nice. I guess we are running out of time! We've got another song in you yet I reckon. You're listening to Sam from The C-Minus Project playing songs including some from the album 'Less Than Perfect Day' out through Gifted and Steady Cam through MGM Distribution. Look buddy, thanks for coming down to Melbourne.
SS: Pleasure. Thanks for having me.
MM: Thanks for coming in; good to see you finally. When are you coming back to Melbourne?
SS: I'd imagine within a couple of months and hopefuly with a band.
MM: How about a quick song.
SS: This is 'Tiger's Tale' which is the last song on the record.
